Critical feedback and creative ideation

Our new article, “Critical feedback impacts creative ideation and brain oscillations,” has just been published in Neuropsychologia. In this EEG study, engineering students generated ideas for a creative task and received critical feedback from a professor halfway through the session. The results show that critical feedback alters both the originality of subsequent ideas and the pattern of brain oscillations associated with creative thinking. These findings help to clarify when and how critical feedback can shape creative performance in educational and professional settings. The paper’s co-author is our Governing Board Chair, Rafal Jonczyk.
