Moral judgments in a foreign language

We are happy to share our new paper published in Brain and Language: “Neural markers reveal weakened sensitivity to moral severity in foreign language contexts”, co-authored by our Governing Board Member, Marcin Naranowicz. The study shows that when bilinguals evaluate moral violations in a foreign language, their brains respond as if these violations were less severe. These findings deepen our understanding of how using a non-native language can change both subjective judgments and neural processing of morally relevant situations. The work contributes to the growing field of research on bilingualism, morality, and social decision-making.
